Our Class
The Seminar in Human Services capstone course is designed specifically for students who are completing the Human Services major and are approaching graduation. This capstone seminar serves the dual purposes of helping students to synthesize prior course learning and to accomplish the transition from an undergraduate program to the world of work and/or graduate study. Using philanthropic best practices examined during the course, students will create the framework for a class Foundation, write a Foundation mission statement, develop a Foundation Request for Proposals (RFP), solicit applications for funds, assist nonprofits with grant development and submission by the Foundation RFP Grant Application due date, and select recipients during the course of the semester. The Foundation created will award a total of $10,000 to one or more local organizations in no less than $2,000 increments.
